NightCap App Reviews

Slow, unusable with iPhone 4

The app tends to crash due to how taxing it is as a resource, even on the very capable iPhone 4 hardware. It is. It optimized, and is quite buggy. Too bad--it has potential!

Horrible

This app simply doesnt work. Every sort of trouble shooting Ive attempted is for naught-- reinstalling, changing the location crap, asking for help, change settings, etc. Even just opening the app is slow. I was so hopeful. I wish it worked, but it doesnt. Dont waste your money on this one.

Great low light shots

But clumsy interface

This is my default low-light camera

Hands down the best for low light-night time shooting, personally I use it with a mini tripod even when im taking a self portrait outside with friends ( sit it on the roof of my car) just set up the shot, set the timer and GO,the app does such a good job with the automatic exposure that I very rarely have to go into the settings....next I wanna use night mode with Camera Boost( when he fixes it) dying to try low light HDR

Hands down the best low light app in the AppStore.

For those of you that give this a low rating, try learning how to use this app. It takes great pictures in low light conditions, but you need to have a steady hand. After all, the shutter is remaining open longer than in the regular camera apps.

Keeper

Not the most intuitive app around, but paired with a GorillaPod (or other tripod) & an iStabilizer (any-case friendly!!

Instalove

Night shots are perfect Just need to keep a steady hand. The burst shots help a lot. Play around with it a bit and find what works for you. You dont need to get tag it. I dont know what that one guy thinks is wrong with this. I think that this may work better on a 4s or 5. I love this app. Wish I had this when the power went out in San Diego

Location Services Required?

Used to work fine without location services turned off. After an update, it now requires location services or it wont save files. Worked fine before the change, so thats just BS. Into the trash this app will go.

I LOVE IT!

I really love this app just the way it is! I like the quality of the final photo, and the easy UI. Its better than my regular digital camera…! Thank you, its a master piece of software.

Fantastic shutter speed control!

NightCap is the best app Ive found to control shutter speed on the iPhone. The user interface is simple and intuitive, the only thing missing is zoom. With this app I’ve taken pictures of the night sky, able to clearly see Orion, Ursa Major, Leo, Gemini, and even the Pleiades. With other camera apps the night sky is wholly black, but NightCap lets you capture the stars. Outdoors or indoors, pictures taken with NightCap are brighter and less grainy, and you dont need the flash.

Super bad app

That works with nothing different than another app! Terrible app

Clicking button doesnt take picture

iPhone 4. Latest iOS

Seems great but crashes

The preview seems great, but every time I take a picture the program crashes on my iPhone 4S.

Nothing Special

This app does exactly what it says. I have been using KitCam for a while and it does the same thing in low light. Both Apps limit the picture to 1 second max. The only thing that NightCap offers is to take multiple pictures instead of hitting the "trigger", which can cause motion blur in the slower settings. I did not have any glitches running on my iPhone 5. In summary - if your camera app already has a low light setting, you probably wont find NightCap useful. If you are using the stock camera and want better results in low light settings then this is a good app for you.

Works great on my iPhone 5!

... very pleased with compared to other phone apps i have tried! clear photos, no grain, or light flares.

Great camera app

If you understand the basic of low light photo capturing, then this app will work very well for you.

Locked!

I have a 4S with version 6.1.2. I went to settings and the program locked! I rebooted and the program was still locked. I deleted the program and downloaded it again. Still locked! So I have no choice but to give this 0 stars. Waste of money!

Bad idea iPhone 5

Not worth it. Bought this app and another and until they let us manually play with the settings ourselves there is no point in buying an app. Shot about the same as the regular camera.

Ignore the bad reviews

So many idiots here who have no clue what long exposure photography means.

Glad it was only .99¢

Poor response time, takes way too long to take a photo. Forget about trying to change the settings! Would not change from main camera to front camera, even though youre supposed to have the option. Could not change ISO even under manual settings.
